Milk Supplements for Bone Health

One of the most talked-about milk products in recent years is TruCal calcium supplements, a line of nutritional supplements that claim to improve milk production by promoting milk nutrient levels throughout the human body. In particular, the company claims that TruCal calcium supplements are effective because milk does not contain the nutrients needed by the body to maintain normal growth and development. Furthermore, milk does not contain the same nutrients that are needed by the body to keep bones healthy and in good condition. While many milk enthusiasts may be quaking in their boots at the thought of drinking milk that contains any of these trace amounts of calcium, research conducted by the U.S. National Milk Board indicates that milk does in fact contain these important milk nutrients.

According to the Milk Marketing Board, milk does contain approximately 11 mg of calcium per ounce, however, this amount of calcium is already broken down by the stomach acid before it ever reaches the bloodstream. Even though milk has these important milk nutrients, it is still difficult for the body to absorb them when taken in supplement form. This is where the calcium in TruCal supplements comes into play; the supplement allows the body to absorb these milk nutrients without being rejected by the stomach.

While milk does provide many of these milk nutrients, it also lacks the other important minerals that are not only essential to keep bones strong but also promote healthy blood vessels. For this reason, milk is typically deficient in potassium and magnesium, both of which are necessary for proper blood vessel performance. The company claims that its calcium supplements address these deficiencies by promoting a better milk supply and a healthy blood supply. As with any dietary supplement, it is important to remember that if you suffer from any medical conditions including heart disease, you should first consult with a physician before taking any supplements, as some supplements can interact with medications. Also, if you currently have or are thinking of having a baby in the near future, you should discuss with your doctor whether or not TruCal calcium would be a suitable addition to your diet.
